The Basel Institute for Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics, University Hospital Basel, Switzerland

is seeking a

Senior biostatistician, PhD (80% to 100%)

with a PhD in statistics or mathematical sciences, profound experience in applied statistics (preferably in the medical field), and excellent skills in SAS, R or Stata. You should be fluent in English, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complicated statistical issues to non-statisticians. Fluency in German is not a must, but we expect applicants to acquire basic understanding of German.

Your main responsibilities are:

• Conduct statistical analysis and interpretation of data from large national and international cohort studies and clinical trials (mainly phase III and IV)
• Develop own (methodological) projects and innovative approaches for challenging observational data analysis
• Provide statistical input to protocol development of clinical trials and observational studies
• Input to biostatistics and data management processes
• Limited consulting and teaching activity for clinical researchers and PhD students in epidemiology

The key interfaces are:

• Staff of the institute, in particular the head of the institute
• Other biostatisticians and project leaders from the institute and hospital based projects
• Liaison with biostatisticians of the Clinical Trial Unit
