President of the foundation

The Basel Institute for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics ceb was founded in 2001. The founders had a clear vision to promote and enhance evidence-based decision making and resource allocation in the health care system. 

Since the creation of our foundation the Institute has generated impressive results in patient oriented research, in transferring clinical research skills and in teaching evidence-based clinical practice. This website gives you an excellent overview of the Institute’s successful activities to advance evidence-based medicine in teaching and research. I am impressed how the team of ceb is dedicated to patient oriented research, how new evidence is generated and communicated to decision makers in hospitals, ambulatory care and at the health system level, with the one goal to improve patient outcomes.

As the president of this foundation I would like to thank the Institute’s director, the staff and the founders for their dedication to patient oriented research. Their work is exemplary for new ideas, critical reasoning and innovation in the interest of patient oriented care.
